This may be an older book, but it has SO much useful information on starting plants from seed, cuttings and budding, and on soil conditions required and best types of pots to use - and so much more. I have been using this book for months now and even though it is full of plants that can't be grown in Phoenix, many of them can be grown in the Phoenix area. I have used this reference for starting seeds gathered from my backyard but also from seeds of friends' plants. The information I garnered from within the pages of this book made it possible for me to have more successes than failures. This is a standard for anyone wishing to propagate southwestern native plants, as the title claims. A must have for serious gardeners' bookshelves.Always read about it. Finally got it. Very glad. Excellent book. It would get 5 stars, but I mostly try to buy and plant seeds, so not totally my cup of tea.Deals more with propagation of shrubs and trees than the forbs.Loads of good information on cultivating plants from seeds and cuttings. Detailed instructions for different techniques and how to get best success with groups of plants as well as individual species. A great resource for hill country land owners who are serious about protecting and expanding our native plant life.It is a really nice book with tons of info!I have gone back to this book time after time. How to treat the seeds you pick up in the woods or gather in the pasture makes all the difference whether they come up. Also watering, when and how much, this book covers it all. Lots of pictures and interesting info on many different types of flowers, trees, vines, etc. well organized.Love this book. It arrived early and is in great shape. I had checked it out many times at the library and knew I wanted it, got it at a great price.
